Mindset coach · Charleston, South Carolina
Nearly thirty years studying how the mind works under pressure — and teaching people to think clearer, feel calmer, and act with intention.
The story
The kid who couldn’t read the board.
I grew up dyslexic. As a kid, the board at the front of the class may as well have been written in a language nobody handed me. I learned early that my mind didn’t work the way I was told it was supposed to. For a long time, that felt like a wall.
Eventually it became the gift.
When the standard way is closed to you, you’re forced to understand how your own mind actually works — how it gets stuck, how it spirals, and how it can be retrained. I spent the next three decades studying exactly that, and became a coach so I could hand it to other people.
What I actually teach.
One idea, in many forms: awareness comes before change. You cannot change a pattern you’ve never really seen. Once you can name the thought — the anger, the fear, the old story — you can put a pause between the feeling and the action. That pause is where your whole life gets decided.
Why trading, too.
Trading is where this gets tested hardest. There’s money on the line, the clock is moving, and your nervous system doesn’t care about your strategy. Almost nobody loses because of a bad chart. They lose because of a loud mind. That’s the part almost no one teaches — and it’s the part I do.
And the sunrises.
I’ve watched the sunrise nearly every morning for years — not for the photo, for the reminder. Another day. Another chance to choose who I am in it. The sunrise was never the point. What it makes room for is.
What I believe
Awareness comes before change.
Always. Notice it first; fix it second.
The brain is trainable, not fixed.
The person who panics today can be the person who stays calm tomorrow. Not by personality — by practice.
Response builds bridges. Reaction builds walls.
In markets, in money, in marriages. Same rule.
Better today than yesterday.
You don’t have to overhaul your life by Friday. You have to be a little better than you were.
